Fawn Thai is the official name for Thai dance. It has many varieties, drawn from past culture of the country. Depend by the occasion; Thai dance might be performed by four or six pair dancers. National scale events might even involved hundreds of dancers. Costumes for these events are luxuriously stunning both in style and quality.
Thai dance can be classified into two categories; classical dance or folk dance. Classical Dance sways in harmony, imitating a sunflowers field. Classical dance is usually performed to entertain local royalty. Fawn Leb dance is one of the most well known Thai dance, or also known as fingernail dance. Fawn Leb usually performed by ten female dancers. Each of the dancers wear finger stalls made from polished and flattened brass. These fingernails are 15 centimeters in length and designed to emphasize the wonderful and graceful of the dancers’ supple fingers and soft hand motion of the Classical Dance.
Another well known classical dance is Fawn Tian Dance or Candle Dance in English. Nighttime performance will accentuate the sparkling candles. Dancers are consists of four pairs female dancers in inverted V configuration. Each dancer holds two lighted candles in each hand, between the thumb and forefinger. The movements of this dance are gentle with series of small steps with fabulous sway of shoulders and upper body. Thai dances are exceptionally stylish with its colorful dance costumes and also its graceful movements.
